Swamp Sunflower (Helianthus angustifolius)

Where to plant: muddy zone above the high-water mark. Keep out of water.
Type: herbaceous perennial
Height x spread (ft): 5-7 (up to to 10) x 4-6 (or greater)
Blooms: late summer to frost
Bloom: showy, golden yellow
Sun: full sun to partial shade
Water: medium to wet
Maintenance: medium, but you can just let it go natural
Wildlife: Attracts songbirds for seeds, and honeybees, wasps, pollinating flies, butterflies and beetles seeking nectar and pollen.  Plants host caterpillars of Silvery Checkerspot, Gorgone Checkerspot, Bordered Patch and Painted Lady butterflies
Tolerates: deer ("pest resistant")
